The man flying away

Adapted from Antoine Bello’s novel, this thriller signs the first transposition on the screen of the writer. Paul « Walker » Chardonnet, a brilliant entrepreneur, dies in the crash of his private jet. Her widow Sarah finds herself alone at the head of the family empire — until the arrival of a detective mandated by the insurance: if death was not accidental, the colossal premium would fly. Charlotte Gainsbourg played Sarah, facing Yvan Attal and Pierre Deladonchamps. Where the novel followed a man organising his own disappearance, Ducray drew a thriller on doubt and freedom — a good example of the freedom that cinema is allowed to face its source.
