The Kremlin Mage
2h 25min
Russia, in the 1990s. The USSR collapses. In the tumult of a country in reconstruction, a young man with fearsome intelligence, Vadim Baranov, traces his way. First artist and producer of reality television, he becomes the informal advisor of a former KGB agent promised to absolute power, the future “Tsar” Vladimir Putin. Divided in the heart of the system, Baranov becomes a central wheel of the new Russia, shaping speeches, images, perceptions. But a presence escapes its control: Ksenia, a free and elusive woman, embodies a possible escape, far from the logic of influence and domination. Fifteen years later, after withdrawing from silence, Baranov agreed to speak. What he reveals then distorts the boundaries between reality and fiction, conviction and strategy. The Kremlin Mage is a dive into the arcanes of power, a story where every word conceals a fault.
