The Empire told the people

Through popular imaging, the Empire is not only shown: it is told.
Destined to a wide audience, the images of Épinal simplify the events, set the figures of power, celebrate the heroes and shape a collective memory. This exhibition examines how imperial history becomes a story, legend and shared representation.
