Step 7 : Nice/Auron

The weather of Paris-Nice :

• 1939: Saint-Étienne Cavaillon stage was reduced to Andance Cavaillon (80 km) due to the snow. Competitors take the SaintÉtienne Andance course in coach.
• 1951: The Col de la Batterie, in the Cevennes, was cleared just before the race passed. On a prefectural order, the cantonniers of the department of Ardeche are requisitioned.
• 1956: the departure of the Saint-Étienne Vergèze stage is given to Trier (20 km from Saint-Étienne), the roads being icy. The distance from the stage is reduced to 250 km.
• 1958: the start of the Vichy Saint-Étienne stage is given with five hours of delay (13h instead of 8h) due to the snow. The departure of the Saint-Étienne Uzès stage is given to Bourg-Argental (25 km from Saint-Étienne). The distance from the stage is reduced to 182 km. The snowfalls lead to the abandonment of 33 riders during the last two stages.
• 1960: The Manosque Fréjus stage was cancelled due to flooding.
• 1962: the stage against the watch of Saint-Étienne fights under the snow. The 39 riders, including Rik van Looy, are caught. The departure of St. Stephen Romans is given to Andance. The distance from the stage is reduced to 33 km.
• 1963: the start of the Saint-Étienne Montpellier stage is given to Tournon. The distance from the stage is reduced to 216 km.
• 1973: the Chalon-sur-Saône Saint-Étienne stage is played in almost all under the snow. The descent of the Col des Echarmeaux is neutralized. The climb of the Col de la Croix des Fourches is removed. The departure of Saint-Étienne Valence is given to Tournon. The distance from the stage is reduced to...19 km.
• 1980: The race direction refuses to neutralize a portion of the Château-Chinon stage. 43 riders watch a strike movement. 11 are excluded from the test. Saint-Étienne’s stage is contested in his
  Almost all under the snow. The arrival times are deleted on the way. 27 riders leave during this single stage.
• 1987: the Saint-Tropez Mandelieu-la-Napoule stage has been modified on numerous occasions as the riders progress, due to the snow.
• 1995: the Clermont-Ferrand Chalvignac stage is interrupted and cancelled, due to snow and conges, while the riders have already covered 62 km. The cancellation decision is taken at the supply control of Riom-ès-Montagnes (km 100).
• 1998: The departure of the Cusset Col de la République stage is given to SaintJust-en-Chevalet. The distance from the stage is reduced to 102 km. The arrival of this stage is judged on a snowy road and under a violent snowstorm.
• 2004: cancellation of the fourth stage Roanne Le Puy-en-Velay, due to the snow in the first part of the race.
• 2005: La Châtre Thiers is replaced by Aigueperse Thiers, due to the snow, for a stage reduced to 46.5 km. Thiers Le Chambon-sur-Lignon is replaced by Thiers Craponne-sur-Arzon, still due to the snow, for a stage reduced to 101 km. Le Chambon-sur-Lignon Montélimar is replaced by Saint-Péray Montélimar because of the weather.
• 2008: the first stage Amilly Nevers is replaced by La Chapelotte Nevers and reduced to 84 km due to the cold, wind and hail.
• 2010: Saint-Junien Aurillac is replaced by Saint-Yrieix-laPerche Aurillac due to the snow, for a stage reduced to 155 km.
• 2016: third stage cancellation Cusset Mont Brouilly due to
  Mid-term snow.
• 2020: cancellation of the 8th and final stage due to the health situation and the Covid-19 pandemic.
• 2021 : no final arrival in Nice and change of course for the 7th and 8th stages due to the health situation and the Covid-19 pandemic.
• 2023 : cancellation of the 6th stage Tourves La Colle-sur-Loup due to violent winds.
• 2024 : the 7th stage Nice ✱ Auron is replaced by Nice ✱ La Madone d’Utelle due to the poor weather conditions for a stage reduced to 104 km.
• 2025: The 7th stage course Nice ✱ Auron is reduced from 147,8 to 109.3 km due to poor weather conditions.
