Tour-Jeu and self-portrait

  • Visit to the exhibitionJean Toche. Fragments of memory (1930-1944)
    Through a booklet-jeu the children follow the path of young Jean Toche from his childhood in Nice to his career as a graphic designer, maquettiste, illustrator.
  • Workshop for self-portrait (ink)
    Jean Toche was represented by the self-portrait of his 6 years until the end of his life. Children will be able to try the art of self-portrait using the artist’s favourite technique: ink.

Discover the missions of the archives and its temporary exhibition through manual games and activities (realization of its ink self-portrait, writing workshop, landscape realization...) (from 7 years old).

Monday 17, Tuesday 18, Thursday 20, and Friday 21 February from 2pm to 4:30pm - Possibility to book for one or more sessions.

After a career as a teacher and graphic designer, Jean Toche delivered, during the last years of his life, an unpublished testimony of his youth years combining texts and drawings and paying tribute to the role played by his brother, Emile, and his parents in the rescue ofTwo Jewish families in 1942-1944.

With the contest of theToche family,This exhibition of the Nice Côte d’Azur Archives department proposes to address the great History through the path of a niçois teenager whose illustrated story is punctuated with original archival documents.
