The area on the right bank of the Paillon River, at its mouth, takes in the first half of 19e century known as the “English quarter” or “Newborough”, seat of the hotels, circles or places of worship of the wintering, especially of British origin.
The neighborhood is urbanizing north with the regularity of new streets and subdivisions. The last buildings are built in the War Two and the art deco style dominates some areas.

This building is preceded by the regulatory plan of 1854, which organizes the grid of the roads of this new sector. Like some of his neighbours, he therefore derogates from the new regulations requiring construction on the street. It is indeed located perpendicular to the old road, in a south-facing, and opens on a large garden, partly amputed by the building of a row of shops when the street becomes a merchant.
