La Tour Saint-François
The former Franciscan convent campanile, now a clock tower, offers a unique 360° panorama of Nice and its hills.
The Tower of Saint Francis is a 50-metre tall tower in the Franciscan church. Built in the thirteenth century, it was enhanced, in the 1830s, of a floor to accommodate a clock and a bell of 1,500 kg, following the plans of the architect Niçois Joseph Vernier.
A few years ago, a contemporary helicoidal staircase was installed in the heart of its 4 narrow walls to allow visitors to reach the top. But to contemplate the panoramic view of the whole city, you must deserve it! Before accessing it, it takes 261 steps. The site configuration does not allow access to children under 7 years of age, people with reduced mobility and is not recommended to heart, claustrophobic and subject to vertigo.
