The Quai of the United States and the City of the Park

The double row of old fishermen’s houses, the old and new terraces are established during the 18th and 19th centuries at the site of the old city walls. Their roofs are arranged in a public walk. The public fish market (the Niçois capital) is set up.

The Saviour?

The city of the Park has not hosted only fish!

In 1954, at the request of Henri Matisse, part of the terraces was walled and transformed into an art gallery. She was then named the "Ponchettes Gallery". In 1967, his little sister was created instead of the old fish hall, which became the “Marine Gallery”. In 1999, they will be attached to the Museum of Modern Art and Contemporary Art. In 2020, the spaces regain their original physiognomy.
