Pendule " Diane Hunter"

This clock attributed to Ravrio, a tan-dorer, bears on the dial the inscription "Lefèvre successor de De Belle à Paris". Louis-François Lefevre, watchmaker, signed under this name several dials between 1806 and 1820, especially for pendulums with subjects. He had taken over the fund of Jean-François De Belle, also watchmaker.

The subject of this pendulum reports that Diane is hunting, her favorite occupation. It is represented here, dressed in a short tunic and wearing sandals at the Antique, sitting the crossed legs, a bandoulière quiquois and a waist arch. At his feet are a dead bird and a dog on both sides of the clock dial that rests on an oblong molded base. This golden bronze pedestal supported by twisted feet is decorated in the center of a deer hunting scene terraid by dogs.

The pendulum appeared at the furniture of the villa Masséna during its furnishings by Victor Masséna d’Essling in 1900-1910.
