Painted ceiling-1

The painting that covers the ceiling of the portrait salon, former music salon of the Masséna family, is a quasi-conformed copy of the ceiling of Queen Marie-Christine's room at Govone Castle, made in 1820. Victor Masséna acquired the wooden doors carved and golden from the castle in 1898. Since the living room of the villa was slightly smaller, the ceiling was imperceptibly reduced.

The ceiling, whose name is unknown to the copist, represents around a series of dancers dressed in an antique tunic of red, green or ochre colors, holding a gaze veil on an azur blue background. The centre of the decor is occupied by a trumpet-eye, dominated by a central rosace and stylized flowers in a compartment rectangle. Andrea Piazza accomplished, under the Restoration, a large part of the painted decors of the renovated Govone castle, which it seems was his main work.
