The entrance

The Villa Masséna, residence of Victor Masséna, Duke of Rivoli, Prince of Essling and grandson of the Marshal of Empire, was built between 1898 and 1901 on the plans of Parisian architect Tersling by Messiah, architect of Niçois.

It was founded in the City of Nice in 1919 and was first transformed into a museum dedicated to local history.

A major renovation campaign of the museum was conducted from 1999 to 2008 to restore the villa, its decors and historical collections and to modernize the museum.

The Masséna Museum today evokes the great era of Nice, from the arrival of the first winterers at the end of the eighteenth century, to the Folles Years before the second world conflict.
