The Grand Salon
This room, the main lounge of the Palace, overlooks the rotunda part of the terrace.
The frescoes of the vault are a replica of the Queen’s Student Hall at the castle of Govone (1820) with a central motif Athena driving a tank, by Luigi Vacca (1778-1854).
Proven from the same castle and the same period: the doors, their frames and the trumets decorated with the geniuses of sculpture and painting, - originally in the Queen’s Student Hall - the consoles and eagles with the cross of Savoie on the pole.
Four paintings (1901) by Paul-Louis-Narcisse Grolleron (1848-1901) recall the facts of arms of the Maréchal Masséna,
- to the left, at noon: Battle of the Ebelsberg Bridge,
- to the left, to the bottom: Essling battle,
- to the right, to the bottom: Battle of Rivoli,
- to the right, at noon: interview of the Pont de Conegliano: signature of Genoa surrender.
