Terra Amata Museum

The Terra Amata Museum preserves all of the archaeological remains updated on the site. It allows the Niçois to discover the life of their distant predecessors.

In the center of the museum, a huge molding presents one of the archaeological soils cleared during the search. It was realized in early April 1966, in less than 15 days, by Henry de Lumley and his team.

Today, prehistoric soil molding is a technique of recording current archaeological information. But during the Terra Amata search, it was the second time in the world that this technique was used.

Each year, the Terra Amata Museum is home to many students from schools in Nice and the surrounding area.

Through various thematic visits and many workshops children can discover the lives of the first niçois and become familiar with the Prehistory.

The new museum of permanent exhibition galleries, integrating the latest results of scientific research, allows you to discover this major site. These are presented, around the large molding, new technological museographic devices: video, interactive system, etc. One can discover the first hologram of museums in the City of Nice.
