Two choreographers, two generations, two scriptures – both on point. An evening designed for ballet lovers as well as for those who wish to discover all the wealth. A major figure in the ballet on the Côte d’Azur for more than thirty years, Jean-Christophe Maillot has created, at the head of the Ballets of Monte Carlo, one of the most singular companies in Europe. Entry his work into the repertoire of the Ballet de l’Opéra de Nice is naturally required. Founded in 2000 for the forty years of the choreographer, Opus 40 is an ode to youth. The work follows “the driving thread of pleasure”, from childhood sensations to the first emotions, then to the fullness of love. Meredith Monk's music accompanies this intimate journey.
