The joyful Veuve
With La Veuve joyeuse, Franz Lehár signs one of the most emblematic of the repertoire, mixing irresistibly elegance, spirit and sensuality. Intrigues in love and power games intertwined around a rich coveted widow. In his light air, Franz Lehár’s work reveals a subtle boldness, carried by as intoxicating and melancholic music. Already welcomed at the Nice Opera in 2021, this show directed by Benoît Bénichou is now back in a completely revisited version. The very chic Parisian embassy becomes a half-swept place, where the festivities of the party close the traces of a world in ruins. The whole Opera becomes the theatre of action: from the court to the hall, from the corridors to the stairs, the public is invited to cross the boundaries of the scene. Arrivals on red carpets, musical performances in the hall, unexpected appearances... everything contributes to making this joyous Veuve a living, festive and resolutely contemporary experience, where the show overflows the setting to better celebrate the art of entertainment.
