For this programme, the Ballet de l’Opéra de Nice brings together two sensitive and contrasted choreographic universes, highlighting the commitment of dancers and the importance of being together. Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, a world-renowned choreographer, has been established by a deeply human writing, nourished by artistic and cultural encounters. Today director of the Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève, he develops a fluid and musical dance at the crossroads of influences. With Loin, he explores the themes of distance, memory and the link between beings, in a poetic and playful space where bodies dialogue and seek. Another figure of the international choreographic scene, Brazilian Fernando Melo is recognized for a physical and expressive writing, attentive to the emotional dimension of the movement. His creations are today interpreted by many companies around the world. In his creation for the Ballet of the Nice Opera, he composes a piece where fragility and resistance respond, revealing all the power of the collective.
