Tristan and Isolde

The absolute summit of the romantic drama, Tristan and Isolde did not end up fascinating. In this burning meditation on desire and death, Wagner unfolds an orchestral writing of an unheard tension, where harmony seems constantly suspended from the vertigo of the insouvi. From love to final transfiguration, the work explores the depths of love feeling to ecstasy and annihilation. Along with Marko Letonja – a regular of the house whose affinities are known with the great Germanic repertoire – the filmmaker Bertrand Bonello will then sign his first opera stage. Combining medieval imaginary and contemporary references, his gaze will immerse us in a double universe, where the real world and the unconscious intersect – one before and one after the philander of love. A hypnotic dive in myth, between romantic fever and radical modernity. Coproduction Opéra Nice Côte d’Azur, Opéra National de Bordeaux
