Blue flag

The Blue Flag, created in 1985, is an internationally renowned ecolabel with strong tourist connotation, symbol of exemplary environmental quality.

This ecolabel rewards and enhances the communities that make significant environmental efforts.

The criteria for obtaining the Blue Flag relate to:
- general environmental data (development, risk management, energy, disability);
- water management (waste water and drinking water);
- waste management (household waste, sorting, information);
- environmental education (information, actions, staff awareness, transport and consumption);

- description of each bathing site (vulnerability of bathing water, sanitary and emergency equipment, public information and waste recovery).

In order to be labelled, one must:
- Complete all the essential criteria of each family listed above,
- Having a global environmental policy that is affirmed and being in a sustainable tourism approach,
- Follow the recommendations issued by the national jury year after year.
