“I’ve been enjoying reading for years A season in hell of Arthur Rimbaud in front of small assemblies of curious people of poetry. This work of reading every time reinvented and the feedback of listeners delighted to discover or rediscover this powerful, intense and mysterious work tell me that it is time for me to broaden the circle of spectators and offer them A season in hell, on a plateau where space, actor’s game, music and light will come to light it with a new day. The text is not written for the theatre, but do we not deal here with an implacable monologue relatating the eight rounds of a “spiritual battle as brutal as the battle of men”? This internal fight, I wanted to further embodi violence by involving a sparring-partner: a musician, Alex Grillo, who, by sending the shots “with instinctive rhythms”, would cause the basing of “a poetic verb accessible, one day or another, to all senses”.
