The green snake

The popular tradition contains strange songs. It tells the story of a young girl stabbed by her father, of the bloody and carefully packed heart of a soldier fleeing his regiment, of wolves led by the river, of a blind man satisfied with his fate, or of a woman who poisons her husband by plunging a green snake into a pint of red wine...

At the border of legend and the diverse fact, fantastic and anguish, dream and nightmare, these songs unfold a great literary and musical beauty. In this repertoire come to mix with more contemporary or rhythmic melodies, but still imprints of mystery.

Accompanied by the wheel vial, a frottrated string instrument whose origins date back to the Middle Ages, Pascale Paolini-Modercin and Guillaume Tennevin revisit popular songs and contemporary music through a melancholic and fantastic show, mixing music, singing and staging.

A show inspired by George Sand’s literary universe, including his novel Les Maîtres sonneurs.
