Women of Dictators
According to Robert David MacDonald’s “Atop Conference”.
Can we love a tyrant without losing his soul?
Behind the scenes of the IIIe Reich, Eva Braun and Clara Petacci - mistresses of Hitler and Mussolini - find themselves for a fierce encounter. Between dreadful confessions, bursts of laughter and totalitarian discourse, the two women unveil their fragility by talking about love, submission and power.
This cruelly funny and uncomfortable text questions the figure of the accomplice in the shadow of the monster, the "banality of evil" to the feminine. Between tragic and burlesque, the room plunges us into a persistent disorder. Should we laugh or shudder at these silences?
A detonating work that marked the international scenes before entering the Comédie-Française repertoire.
