La Tendresse
What is a man today? A good man, a good lover, a good son or a good father? After Désobéir, presented at the TNN in 2021, Julie Bérès gave birth to the second part of a youth diptych. The Tendresse gathers on the plateau of young men who, by word or dance, come to tell their paths and, each in their own way, shake the models of virility that they must incarnate and compel them.
With this show, Julie Berès, again accompanied by the authors Alice Zeniter and Kevin Keiss, questions the construction of masculinity through all social and intimate spheres: the family, the relationship to love, sexuality, work or social success... Where Desobéir’s young women often had to lie to others to emancipate, La Tendresse’s boys learned to lie to themselves to belong to the group. By opening this space of vulnerability, the actress and stage designer sketches a sensitive portrait of a generation looking for new ways of being, more free and fairer.
Intention
I continue to work with the authors Alice Zeniter and Kevin Keiss in the line of "Sober". We rely on journeys of life and testimonies so that inexorably the intimacy can mix with eminently political. The meeting with the eight young men on the plateau, all from different backgrounds, actors and dancers, was decisive. The exchanges we have had have been of great power: they have opened fields of emotions and reflections but also of humour; capacities to change, far from all preconceived speeches, our relations beyond social, family or traditional subpoenas. We'd like to hear the way they poison their lives. We ask them that it is probably in the acceptance of his vulnerability, in the authorization to consolation, to tears and in the claim of equality of facts between men and women that lies one of the keys to self-refugee.Julie Berès
