The Château des Carpathes

In a small village folded on itself, surrounded by the forest and dominated by the shadow of the Château des Carpathes, fear shapes existences. Determined to pierce the secret of this strange building, Franz, a lonely traveler, commits himself to a dangerous expedition through forests and mountains. On stage, musicians, singers and comedians unfold with generosity all the magic of Jules Verne’s Romanesque work, leading the audience in their investigation, thanks to a constantly metamorphosis scene. A sensory and captivating show, to share with family!

By plunging into Jules Verne’s universe, Émilie Capliez signs a free and contemporary adaptation of this little-known novel of the general public, where theatre dialogues with music and video. In collaboration with the jazz trumpeter and composer Airelle Besson, she offers this musical show as an extraordinary journey along the borders of the Irreel.

IntentionAt the beginning of this creation, there was my desire to revisit the world of Jules Verne, whose extraordinary Journeys fed the imagination of so many generations of readers. With this novel, Jules Verne tackles a literary genre that fascinates me particularly: Gothic novel, fantastic literature. I would like all the powers of the living show to be implemented to reflect the supernatural universe of the novel. I want to offer spectators a fictional journey, as extraordinary as possible, to share with them my taste for literature. Emile Capliez
