Instabile

Joris Frigerio designs "Instabile" as a circassian creation in two times. On a rolling tray, unstable and unpredictable, the balance is negotiated every second for the three interpreters who confront it. The scenic device, as demanding as it is innovative, imposes the urgency: to stay in motion to stay alive. Through this vibrant tension, Instabile explores our relationship to time in a world of perpetual agitation.

The play opens on an acrobatic and theatrical solo: a body is boarded on a treadmill, condemned to advance in a mechanics that never stops. He's titube, falls, rises, rest again. Then, without interruption, an acrobat duo takes over. Two bodies rise, grow, wear, abandon. At two, the balance is built in the effort, the bond supports as much as it forces.

IntentionWith "Instabile", I wish to explore the body's resistance at an imposed pace, its adaptation to physical and emotional constraints, in a device that does not cheat. The work of the body under stress, its ability to adapt, to yield or to resist, becomes here a language in itself. This is a way of saying, without words, what constraint can cause beauty, chaos or tension. I want to explore the limits of acrobatic discipline, to see how hands-to-hands and bearings can turn when they are mistreated, distorted, destabilized."Instabile" marks the beginning of a new cycle for the company: a background work on instability as a creative engine.
