Thelonius & Lola
With "Thélonius & Lola", Agnès Régolo staged the tender and poetic universe of Serge Kribus, author of contemporary theatre. This fable tells an extraordinary friendship between Lola, a curious and determined young girl, and Thelonius, singing dog, polyglot and homeless. The child will help the dog pierce in the song, but a new law decides to expel those who do not have a necklace!
Between theatre, singing and dancing, the show unfolds a cocacious universe where animals speak and where children show the way. Their adventures are joyfully rhymed by the original band of cellist Guillaume Saurel. Through this false lightness, the show addresses with great empathy the current issues of difference and exile, recalling that the innocence of childhood can open paths to a fairer world.
Intention
The theatre and the stories we tell us do not save the world. They don’t even bring any solution and I don’t think they’re doing it. But they allow us the essential: escape from loneliness, isolation, shame. They allow us to name the lived events. They allow us to exchange, share our experiences. Through this sharing, they accompany us, help us to want to continue and, sometimes, open access to the idea of choice.Serge Kribus
Thelonius & Lola is a funny and poetic fable that addresses the issues of difference and racism. To a society that decides to ban a whole group, Serge Kribus delicately suggests the appropriate answers: curiosity, empathy, intelligence, resistance. We are immersed in the fantasy and beauty of these childish fables that do not hesitate to engage humans and animals, as from the same mold. In the discovery of the world, Lola observes everything alive as his equal. A person with an invigorating charm and contagious determination, it gives us air and the joy of following it. Agnès Régolo
