Théâtre National de Nice

The National Theatre of Nice is a National Dramatic Center, created in October 1969, with the appointment of Gabriel Monnet, his first director.
A first prefabricated building was inaugurated in May 1970. His design was the work of the Igor Hilbert scenographer. In 1989, a new building emerged at the heart of the Promenade des Arts, a bridge between the TNN and the MAMAC. It was designed by architect Yves Bayard with the participation of the designer Jacqueline Morabito and inaugurated by Jacques Weber.

Since April 2022, the TNN has moved to Place Saint-François, at the entrance to Vieux-Nicein the former Franciscan convent dating from the 13th century.
Fruit of a gigantic rehabilitation site,La Salle des Franciscains becomes the big "little" room of the TNN, able to accommodate the most singular performances thanks to its modular grams.

In the Golden Eagle, former hotel and adjacent building of the church, are installed the administrative offices, two rehearsal rooms, the reception-billetterie as well as a bar and several autonomous apartments for the reception of artists in residence.

In May 2022, west of the city of Nice, is inauguratedLa Cuisine, new "grande" TNN room. A warm place composed of a large public home, a ticket shop and a bar-restaurant.

The theatre, which sacralizes the present in a carnal exchange between the spectators and the actors, tends to us a mirror sometimes deforming, sometimes dramatic or comical but always upsetting. For ever and for tomorrow, this human rendezvous will remain the best way to understand our world together.
